Coach Fivecoat 😎

Hi Compass Family! I am the K-4 PE coach for this school year (and many more I hope!) I am so happy to be able to serve all children while teaching them that their health is important and fitness can be a lot of FUN! 💚💙💚💙

I started teaching in 1999 in ECISD and I have taught Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade in the classroom. When my daughter Abby was born in 2004, I was blessed to get to stay home with her for 5 years before returning to the classroom.

I have taught in Midland for the last 12 years and Midland is where we call home. I am originally from Golden, Colorado and I grew up snow skiing, ice skating, playing softball and volleyball and most importantly playing outside all the time in the beautiful foothills and mountains!  Camping was all of our vacations as a child. 🏕️ My husband since 1999 is Ray and he grew up in Wyoming and he was a competitive swimmer since he was 5 years old.  Our daughter Abby was also a swimmer at a very young age and both her and Ray have their 3rd degree Black Belts in TaeKwonDo.🥋

One of our favorite things to do as a family is travel! ✈️ 🧳  Abby has been to all 50 states-some of those with us and some with her grandparents.  We have been to about 17 countries and Korea is close to our hearts as it is the birthplace of TaeKwonDo and we have been there 4 times. We plan on going to Japan in 2026 with a short stop back to Korea!

💙Abby attends West Virginia University -Go Mountaineers! 💛She  will graduate in May of 2026 with a degree in Sports and Exercise Psychology.  She will go on to Graduate school and wants to work with sports teams at either the High School level or College level.

We also have 3 mischievous cats Maui, Rascal and Rosie.  🐈 😺🐈‍⬛

This will be my 8th year in PE and I love watching children grow and learn to love all things health and fitness!  Their Social and Emotional learning is also very important. We will work on problem solving and conflict resolution as those are lifelong skills.  I will include many lessons on how playing games, moving your body and getting proper food, hydration and sleep all ties together to stay healthy at any age and ability.  All bodies are unique and different and there are many ways to incorporate fitness into a daily routine.

I am looking forward to seeing lots of smiling faces and hearing laughter in the gym this year!
