I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Melissa Absher, I was born and raised right here in Odessa, Tx. My husband and I have been married for almost 24 years and we have 4 handsome boys. All 4 of our boys have attended Compass Academy since kindergarten. My oldest graduated from Compass Academy 2 years ago and my next one will graduate this school year (2024-2025).
I graduated from Permian High School in 1998 and then went to Odessa College. I started my medical career first as a surgical technician at MCH while I worked on acquiring my RN license. After I became a registered nurse in 2004, I continued to work as a circulating nurse in the operating rooms at MCH for a year. I graduated from Odessa College with two Associate degrees in Applied Science and later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix.
I have always had a passion for school nursing, and I always knew that at some point in my life I would pursue a career as a school nurse. I began my school nursing career 19 years ago at ECISD. When Compass Academy opened in August of 2011, I embarked on my new journey here where I plan to stay for many more years. I am so honored to be a part of such a wonderful and caring community.
