What's going on in music??

We are very excited to learn about music!  You are more than welcome to come sing and dance with us anytime!  Here is a little bit of what is going on the first few weeks of school.  (Besides of course learning over 700 names!). All of our students will be introduced to different kinds of instruments and lots of singing of course!  We have just finished learning about all the woodwind instruments and are about to start the other families!

 

Kinder - Kinder did amazing on their first concert!  We are learning to keep a beat as well as be able to clap rhythms back.  We are learning to sing back the things we hear as well as high and low sounds!

 

First - We are still learning the difference between beat and rhythm as well as mi, sol, and la.

 

Second - We are still learning the difference between beat and rhythm as well as mi, sol, and la.

 

 

Fourth - We are still learning the difference between beat and rhythm as well as mi, sol, and la.  We have a concert coming up in February to celebrate Presidents' Day and Texas!

 

Fifth - There is going to be so much to learn in the 5th grade!  We are hopefully going to start learning recorders soon!  Recorders will be kept at school, but if your child would like to purchase one to practice at home, that's wonderful!  Records can be found pretty cheap, but remind your child they break easily!  (That's why they are staying at school!). We will be reviewing a lot that was learned as a younger music student but we will be learning a lot of "bigger kid" music things that will help them be ready for band, choir or orchestra!
