About Mr. Chism

This will be my 18th year in Education and my 9th year at Compass Academy Charter School.

I have been married to my wife, Stacy, for over 23 years and we have 2 boys, Zane who will be an sophomore here at Compass Academy and our younger boy Blaine will be a 5th grader here at Compass Academy as well.

 

This year I will once again get the opportunity to be one of our Assistant Tennis Coaches for an amazing group of student athletes in grades 7-12.

 

When I am not at Compass Academy, I really enjoy watching Braves baseball, Dallas Stars Hockey, Jackalopes Hockey or any Harry Potter movie I can get.

I was born in Englewood, CO but was primarily raised in Odessa, TX.   I spent my sophomore and junior years in Dalton, GA and that was an awesome time for me.  I graduated high school from Permian High School here in Odessa, TX.  I graduated from Odessa College with my Associates of Art and from South Plains College with an Associates in Computer Information Systems.  I then graduated from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin with my bachelors in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics.  I graduated from the University of Texas Arlington with my Masters in Education degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies as well.

 

To teach in Texas, I have a Generalist Certification to teach Core Subjects grades 4-8.  I also have my Tech Apps EC-12 Certification as well.  I am also certified to teach Pre-AP classes as well as GT classes.

 

Professionally, I have my CompTIA A+ certification and I also have my MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) certification as well.

 

I know that everything happens for a reason and I am super excited for this opportunity to help Compass Academy.
