My Texas Future Direct Admissions – Annual Parent Notification
2026–2027 School Year
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Texas has established a new high school graduation requirement related to the My Texas Future Direct Admissions Program.
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, students must satisfy the Direct Admissions requirement prior to graduating from high school.
What is My Texas Future?
My Texas Future is a state-supported platform designed to help Texas students explore college and career opportunities. Through the Direct Admissions program, students may learn which participating Texas colleges and universities they may qualify for based on their academic information.
As part of this process, students and their parent/guardian must make a decision regarding whether the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) may share the student's academic information with participating institutions of higher education for Direct Admissions purposes.
Academic information associated with this process may include:
Graduation plan type
Class rank
Grade point average (GPA)
SAT total score, if applicable
ACT composite score, if applicable
Students have the option to create or annually update a profile and account through My Texas Future. Students and parents/guardians may also update or revise information in the student's profile.
Students who create a My Texas Future profile may also choose to opt out of one or more My Texas Future programs.
Graduation Requirement
Before graduating, a student must satisfy the Direct Admissions requirement by either:
Participating:
The student establishes a My Texas Future profile and elects to participate in the Direct Admissions program. Documentation of completion must be provided to the school.
OR
Opting Out:
A student may satisfy the graduation requirement by submitting the appropriate official Direct Admissions Opt-Out Form.
Please understand that participation in Direct Admissions itself is not required for graduation. However, students must complete the participation election or have the appropriate opt-out documentation on file before graduation.
Compass Academy will maintain documentation showing that each student has satisfied this graduation requirement.
Additional information and instructions will be provided to students and families as we implement this new state requirement.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the counseling office.
Thank you,
Compass Academy Counseling Department
