Get to Know Your Teacher

Hello all!  My name is Sonia Lipsey, I have been teaching for 10 years.  This is my first year here at Compass Academy and I am excited to be here!  I have taught Kindergarten, First, and Second grade.  I am a native West Texan, born in Midland and grew up in Odessa.  I attended Blanton, Nimitz, Permian, Odessa College, and UTPB.  I graduated with a bachelors in Multidisciplinary Studies and certified to teach EC-6. I have been married to my partner in crime, Buckey, for 10 years.  Between the two of us we have 4 kiddos:  Alanis, Reese, Aloura, and Aliyah.  From those kiddos we have been given two absolutely perfect granddaughters:  Savannah and Bella.  We have 3 dogs:  Honey Girl, Sassy, and Penny;  1 cat:  Luna;  1 bearded dragon:  Godzilla;  and 1 leopard gecko:  Dee.  My third grade teacher, Mrs. Spivey, inspired me to become a teacher, she was absolutely the best!  Although it took me a good while to finish my schooling, here I am, helping to teach the future!
